Coalition for Responsible Health Care

The Coalition for Responsible Healthcare provides a forum for citizens of the Roanoke Valley to examine the effect of the Carilion Clinic on their healthcare choices. The Carilion Clinic is a not for profit system that has established a monopoly health system. Please look at their forums. See the news article from the Wall Street Journal dated August 29, 2008. There are some disturbing parallels to local developments.

Read the ruling in the unsuccessful lawsuit brought by the Justice Department in 1989 to try to block the merger of Carilion Health System and Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley.

Read an email from a Cigna representative to a local employee-benefits consultant that lists Roanoke with the highest medical costs in Virginia.

Read a petition by local physicians against the Carilion Clinic.

Protect Patients Now

Protect Patients Now is a nationwide grassroots campaign of concerned citizens and doctors dedicated to passing national medical liability reform that will end lawsuit abuse and make sure that the care you need will be there when you need it.

"Heal the Claims Process"

Physicians are spending as much as 14 percent of their total collections to obtain accurate payment for their services. When physicians submit correctly coded health care claims, health insurers and other third-party payers may still inappropriately delay, deny or significantly reduce payments. The significant savings that could be realized from more efficient claims processing could be better spent on increasing the quality of patient care and reducing the burden of high premium costs to consumers.
