Raymond Kordonowy, MD

We just completed our inaugural Independent Physicians Association of Lee County health fair and for a first time event I consider it a success. I have had some direct feedback from persons who attended and they particularly like our mini-lecture format. We even have volunteer offers for our next year's event. Thanks to those of you who took an interest in our fair and our association. I know the doctors who participated and sponsored booths had a terrific time!   We will pool our collective feedback and make it even better next year.

This Saturday our association co-sponsored a booth at the Annual India Fest Event at JetBlue Park. We were happy to be there and to raise public awareness of our association. Some of the folks that attended will be new readers of our patient newsletter- I know because I solicited your emails so that you could receive our newsletter. For those of you who are new to our site feel free to download my free e-book featuring prior recipes I have featured in my prior patient newsletters.

If any of our readers own and operate their own business, it is my desire to have businesses of the proper size consider partial risk insurance options for their employees. Partial risk insurance will often save your business substantial money. As business owners if you had predictability for usual/planned health care services (such as occasional physical exams or prevention programs) you would not need to insure for this, hence lowering your insurance premiums. Partial risk health insurance contracts allow business owners to return part of their premium payments back to the business if their employees wisely utilize health care services and lower overall costs. If you haven't consider this option I challenge you to ask your insurance agent about this option. Presently your insurance premiums are paid and surrendered regardless of what you used or consumed. Partial risk insurance properly aligns cost-savings back to the buyer if they help to lower unnecessary expenses.

It is my intention to have our IPALC doctors avail themselves to help provide cost effective and predictability for outpatient health care services. Our nearly 150 physician members own and operate medical practices in nearly every specialty. Some of us own and operate independent outpatient surgical centers. As privately held business owners often we can provide services for far less costs than the present hospital system which now owns and operates many physician practices in addition to their chartered responsibility to provide hospital services.

We want the public to learn about our doctors and shop for their care in our association. Let us know via contact feedback if price-transparency is something that interest you as consumers. My private practice has openly shared my prices for services on my website. I continue to suggest to our association of doctors that they should consider doing the same.

Sincerely Submitted,

Raymond W. Kordonowy MD ABIM ABCL, President of IPALC
